Inspired by the forms, shapes, colours and moods of The North Sea.

When Shetlander Roy Leask appeared in my workshop carrying a Viking shield, sword and axe, I knew this was going to be no ordinary day! I was delighted to be approached by Roy back in 2007 about designing a collection of jewellery to commemorate the 2008 Up Helly Aa festival in Shetland. I was lucky enough to be invited to the celebrations which take place on the last Tuesday of January every year. A truly amazing spectacle!

I've always been captivated by rock structures and textures, and for this collection, was inspired by rock erosion. As the water in Scotland's burns washes over rocks and stones, particles and minerals are set free, only to be caught again in rock crevices further downstream. Gold granules are often trapped in this way and this natural process inspired me to create 'Captivate', a contemporary collection in precious metals.

I designed our Coloured Daisies as the nights began to draw in. These winter Daisies and add a little warmth whatever the season or weather.
-
The daisy is one of my favourite flowers and I chose them for my wedding dress and bouquet. I took inspiration from my late husband Rick's 'Daisies at Dawn' photograph to design this collection.

The rough surface of the rocks is reminiscent of the moon and Shelia recreated this ancient look through a technique known as reticulation.

One morning my husband Rick took this amazing photograph of dew on grasses and cobwebs. The light was incredible and the natural phenomenon inspired me to create this fine elegant collection.

These elegant free flowing designs were inspired by the natural ripples that can be found on sand after water has passed over it. They cast delicate shadows against the golden sheen of the beach, shimmering in the light.

I'm fascinated by the power, colour and movement of the sea. My earliest drawings of the shoreline near my childhood home gained my a place at Edinburgh College of Art. I still return to the shoreline for inspiration when the light is special. These pieces were inspired by wonderful waves I saw off the Caithiness coast in Scotland at Dunnet Head.

A small stone, in the Orkney Museum, Kirkwall inspired me to create this collection which has a message written in Ogham, a pictish text. This pendant's Ogham message reads 'A Blessing on the Soul'.

Walking through the woodland at Forss in Caithness, the dense carpet of delicate winter Snowdrops gave Sheila the inspiration to design this floral collection.

Strong fluent lines recall ever changing shapes of waves and the external flow of the tide

My Tidal collection reflects the perpetual movement of the tides of the Pentland Firth.

The strong tides of the Pentland Firth guard many natural treasures. Fishermen occasionally discover some of these treasures when they haul in their creels and come across the elusive Groatie Buckie (Arctic Cowrie Shell). These tiny magical shells are said to bring good luck to the keeper and can be found on the beaches of Caithness, Orkney and Shetland by combing the shoreline.

The wild shorelines of Orkney and north Scotland have lovely marram grasses which sweep from side to side in the sea breeze. This inspired me to create a delicate free flowing design with layered silver and enamel.
