I'm fascinated by the power, colour and movement of the sea. My earliest drawings of the shoreline near my childhood home gained my a place at Edinburgh College of Art. I still return to the shoreline for inspiration when the light is special. These pieces were inspired by wonderful waves I saw off the Caithiness coast in Scotland at Dunnet Head.

When Shetlander Roy Leask appeared in my workshop carrying a Viking shield, sword and axe, I knew this was going to be no ordinary day! I was delighted to be approached by Roy back in 2007 about designing a collection of jewellery to commemorate the 2008 Up Helly Aa festival in Shetland. A truly amazing spectacle!
